Booking & Payment
How do we book?
Fill out our enquiry form with your event date, preferred package, and any other details we need. If we're free on your date, we'll send you a payment link for your first payment.
How does payment work?
We split your total (package price + Security Fee) into two payments — 50% at booking, and the remaining 50% due 30 days before your event. We won't send your cameras out until payment is fully cleared. The Security Fee is refunded after your event, provided your cameras come back undamaged.
Can you hold our date while we decide?
At the moment, we're not able to hold dates without payment, as bookings are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you're interested in a date, we'd recommend booking as soon as you can to avoid missing out.
What happens if we don't pay the balance in time?
We'll send reminders ahead of your 30-day deadline. If the balance still isn't paid shortly after, we may need to release your booking so we can offer the date to someone else, so please get in touch if you need a hand.
Is the security fee refundable?
Yes - your security fee is refundable, provided the cameras come back in the same condition they were sent out in. If anything's lost or damaged beyond normal wear, the deposit covers that cost instead of being returned.
What's your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel, your payments are refundable if you let us know at least 60 days before your event. Cancellations made less than 60 days before the event are non-refundable, as it becomes difficult for us to rebook your date at short notice.
What's Included & Pricing
What's the difference between your packages?
You can choose cameras only (you get the kit plus all your raw footage to do with as you like), or cameras plus edit (all of that, plus we put together a fun highlight video for you). There is also a Destination Event option, where everything is included for up to two weeks' hire, and The Best of Both package where a Throwback Cams team member can join your event to film all the key bits of your day.
Do you charge differently for weddings vs other events?
No - our pricing is the same across all event types. Whether it's a wedding, birthday, hen do, or something else entirely, the price depends on your package, not the occasion. The price may vary depending on the length of the event.
What if our event runs over multiple days?
Our standard hire window covers 1-2 days. For multi-day events, there's a small extra-day charge to cover the additional hire period.
What is The Best of Both package?
It's our premium package for anyone who wants full peace of mind. You get three retro camcorders for your guests to enjoy, plus a Throwback Cams team member who joins you in person for the day, holding one camera to make sure all your key moments are captured - the best of guest-shot charm and guaranteed coverage, all in one package.
Does The Best of Both (BOB) package price include travel?
Travel is included free within 30 miles of Exeter, Devon. Beyond that, we charge 45p per mile each way, calculated based on your event location - we'll always confirm this with you before you book, so there are no surprises. This package currently covers events within the UK only.
With the BOB package, will we receive the cameras before the team member arrives?
Yes - two of your three cameras are posted out in advance, just like our standard packages, so you can capture getting-ready shots or anything happening before our team member joins you. They'll bring the third camera with them on the day to cover the main event in person.
Why is the BOB package more than the standard camera packages?
This tier includes a full day of in-person coverage from a member of our team, on top of the camera hire and edit - so the price reflects both the camera package and a fair day rate for their time, travel, and dedicated filming throughout your event.
Using the Cameras
When will we receive the cameras?
We post them out a few days before your event, fully charged and ready to go.
What's the prompt card for?
It's a bit of fun inspiration for your guests - ideas of what to film throughout the day if they're not sure where to start.
Do we need any experience to use the cameras?
Not at all - they're simple point-and-record; no filming experience needed. That's the whole idea.
What if a camera gets lost or damaged?
Minor wear is expected. Significant loss or damage may result in you not receiving your security fee back. Full details are in our terms at booking.
After Your Event
How do we send the cameras back?
Simply pop them back in the same packaging they arrived in and post them back to us. It'll be prepaid packaging, so no extra hidden costs. Please return the camcorders within 7 days of your event; more details are in our terms and conditions.
Do we get to keep all the footage, not just the edited video?
Yes - every package includes all your raw footage, regardless of whether you choose the edit option too.
How long does the edited video take?
Our standard turnaround is 4–7 weeks from when we receive your cameras back.
Can we request a particular style or song for our video?
Our standard edit is a fun, natural highlights reel. If you have a specific style or music request in mind, let us know - we can offer a customised edit as an upgrade.

What areas do you cover?
We're based in Devon, in the South West of England, but we post our cameras across the UK, so you can book us wherever your event is.
Will you use our footage for your own marketing?
Yes - we use footage from events for our own portfolio and marketing. This is part of how we're able to keep our prices affordable.
